Located in the Hunter region of NSW, Australia, Hydrous is a small engineering and design management consulting business that works with a range of clients and stakeholders to lead and assist the development of water-related infrastructure projects and design solutions across industries.

Story of hydrous

Following 20 years working in different roles in the construction and engineering sector for projects in Australia and the Pacific, Michael has established Hydrous to offer an accessible and lean approach for clients to initiate development of multi-discipline water infrastructure projects.

Developing and integrating a water process plant solution into a new environment or existing operational site can be an intricate undertaking requiring compiled knowledge, program planning, coordination across disciplines, satisfaction of physical contraints and a delivery model with appropriate scope packaging and responsible deployment of capital.

Michael has a background in mechanical engineering* and is passionate about facilitating robust, constructable and value adding design which is generated, developed and realised - together.

(*Michael is also happy to work alongside civil engineers for a small fee!)

Advanced site investigation capabilities with a focus on complex brownfield sites and/or remote/vegetated sites. Witness testing and systems commissioning.

Optioneering & Project Scoping

Design Management & Third Party Review

Workshop Facilitation & Operator Training

Assist the ideation process from project identification, business case and scoping through to early design and procurement. Optioneering, FEED & CL4 estimation.

Client-side representation, management and general third party review and opportunities for improvement for multi-disciplinary engineering designs.

Design and facilitation of project workshops to accelerate progress and review designs. Design and delivery of operator training to contract requirements.
