Vision Statement
In the pursuit of technical excellence, emerge as an industry leader in the design management of water infrastructure projects across Australia and the Pacific.
Mission Statement
In collaboration with stakeholders and clients, lead and develop robust, innovative and value adding design solutions while ably navigating uncertainties, constraints and challenges.
Value Statement
To act with integrity, work in the best interests of the client, uphold stakeholder expectations, consider the environment and deliver on committed responsibilities.

Vision & Values
Work, Health and Safety
Hydrous enacts a systematic approach to Health and Safety to a standard expected by our clients. We deploy the six hierarchy of controls to all work and are passionate about generating reasonably practical designs and carrying out SiD review workshops. We report and investigate all incidents and near miss reports relevant to Hydrous as a PCBU. We can operate under our own SWMS or can adopt to the clients' processes and procedures.
Environment & Waste
We seek to provide solutions with reduced impact to the environment which are cognisant of endangered communities and sensitive receivers, curtail unnecessary impact to stakeholder groups and consider alternative materials and the reduction of non-recyclable waste.
Modern Slavery & Sustainable Procurement
From time to time, Hydrous assesses its supply chain and pursues acceptable practice in terms of overseas modern slavery risk potential and the participation rates of local industry, Australian made goods, people with a disability and indigenous representation.

Commitments
Quality
We strive to provide high quality services and designs through compliance, thorough documentation and record keeping practices, the use of action registers and partner review when warranted. We use active communication to ensure client instruction is understood and documented, interrogate assumptions, monitor the interfaces, initiate change management processes when indicated and ensure that we work within our capabilities and expertise.
Design Process
Firm up the fundamentals
Problem statement, stakeholder ID & expectations, test assumptions, quantify unknowns, core function, basis of design.
Bluesky and back
Percolation of diverse ideas, double diamond, MCA, consensus and collective ownership.
Optioneering & design development
Spearhead technical challenges: regulatory, planning, environmental, engineering. Core process design, structures and facilities, initial sizing and spatial layout.
Value Engineering & Redundancy
Commensurate design, rationalisation, OoM savings realisation, acceptable redundancy, reliability & FMEA.
Human Factor & Safety Engineering
Hierarchy of controls, safety in design reviews, access/operability/maintainability, systems safety & level of automation.
Construction & Program
Construction methodology, staging plans, modularisation, integrated delivery strategy, work fronts, cranage, sprint goals & delivery program.
People & Project Management
Project reporting, risk management, project recruitment, people leadership, performance management, RACI, contract administration.
There are many facets to a successful infrastructure solution design which comprises ideation, innovation and iteration.
An outline of typical steps in the early phases of a larger water project is provided below along with identification of important cross-cutting aspects that collectively form an integral part of a design and development project undertaking.
Regulatory, Environment & Planning
Environmental approvals, mitigations & minimisation, sustainability, carbon accounting, communications, site drainage and hierarchy of waste.
Investigate the site
Site selection, brownfield interface, condition assessment, geotech, buried service, scan, survey, logistics, impact studies, environmental data.
Early estimate & option selection
Budget estimation, option selection, revisit scope and objectives, alternative materials and alteration of operations/functionality.
Concept / Reference design
3D modelling, convergence of process and spatial design, BoM, ancillary systems and tie in points.
Commercial & Procurement
Commercial model, risk assignment, international equipment procurement, market capability & availability, tender and evaluation process.
Quality & Commissioning
Interface management, design for commissioning, performance guarantees, audits and offsite testing, digital engineering and project documentation.
Tender and Representation
EOI, tender process, bid evaluation & clarifications, technical review and OFI.
Management, Governance & Finance
PCG, FID, reporting, estimation, budget allocation, establish project controls.
Client-side Support
Consultant/contractor management and surveillance, client advice, ongoing support and phase out.
AI & Technology Integration
Leveraging technology applications and the responsible deployment of AI to enhance the formulation and delivery of an efficient design project.
Every design tells a story.
Together, let's ensure it's a good news story!
